Chinese Arts  Festival

The Chinese Arts Festival has two purposes: one is to promote Chinese culture, and the other is to present the talent of top Chinese artists in the Netherlands to the international community.

The first edition of the Chinese Arts Festival was held in the City Hall of The Hague on September 19, 2010, The Vice mayor of the Hague, Mr. Henk Kool, was invited to deliver the opening speech. The main theme of the first Chinese Arts Festival was the Chinese Modern Landscape Arts Exhibition, presented by the Chinese Artist Jenny Lee. At the same time a marvelous floriade Arts presentation was held by the Floriade artist Sonjo Wong, accompanied by the extraordinary Chinese musical performance led by the famous Soprano Xiaolan Ji and the Zhi-Lan Dancing group.

The Second edition of the Chinese Arts Festival was held on May 12-15 2011 in Ahoy Rotterdam, coincided with the organisation of the 2011 World Table Tennis Championship and was supported by many cultural and performing groups and distinguished artists, such as the Chinese Artists Foundation, the Yuehling Opera Arts group, Rotterdam Women's Association, The Music School in Eindhoven, the outstanding Chinese soprano Xiaolan Ji, the famous Pipa musician Sissi Zhang as well as the most famous fashion designer, Sheguang Hu. These top artists presented their outstanding talents in the Chinese Arts Festival.

The third edition of Chinese Arts Festival was held on 16th September 2012 in the Hague.
The theme was “ Let Chinese culture meets the western world”, the invited artists were the famous Chinese writer Lulu Wang, the famous Soprano Xiaolan Ji and the Dutch artist Martin Hurkens. The third edition of Chinese Arts Festival opened with a spectacular Chinese musical, presented by the famous Chinese Soprano Xiaolan Ji and the Zhilan Dance group. Followed by the traditional Mode show presented by The Rainbow Arts Group. The gorgeous fashion models got a lot of attention and held the spotlight. The East meets west opera concert hosted by Lulu Wang and performed by Martin Hurkens and Xiaolan Ji attracted a large audience to come to the venue and enjoy their extraordinary voices. Undoubtedly this concert was the successful highlight of the 2012 Chinese Arts Festival.

According to the Chinese Arts Festival committee of the Green Lotus Foundation it is clear that due to the great success and the huge impact, the Chinese Arts Festival will be held every year. And more outstanding Chinese artists and Dutch artists will be invited to present their talents to the public."
